Geofisika Teknik dan Lingkungan

2027 Ganjil Lecturer Institut Teknologi Bandung
This course introduces the principles and applications of geophysical methods for addressing engineering and environmental problems. It covers geological, physical, geotechnical, biological, and chemical aspects relevant to subsurface investigations, with emphasis on site characterization, groundwater, environmental assessment, seismic hazards, landslides, and other geological hazards. Students learn to integrate geophysical methods with geotechnical investigations and apply them to real-world engineering and environmental case studies.

Course Content

The course covers the fundamentals of engineering and environmental geophysics, including environmental biology and chemistry, the role of geophysical methods in solving engineering and environmental problems, and case studies of their applications. Topics include physical and engineering parameters, geotechnical exploration methods such as cone penetration testing (CPT/sondir) and drilling, and the integration of geophysical and geotechnical data. Engineering seismology is introduced through seismic reflection and refraction methods, seismic hazard and risk analysis, and the application of seismic and non-seismic methods—including gravity, magnetic, electrical resistivity, and electromagnetic methods—for hydrogeological, geotechnical, and environmental investigations. The course also covers bioremediation and biosurfactants, geological hazards such as landslides, stress and strain in soils and rocks, seepage and flow-net analysis, well logging, and ground settlement. Emphasis is placed on data interpretation, integration of multidisciplinary information, and practical case studies in engineering and environmental geophysics.
