TG6032
Master’s Field Course
This course provides hands-on field experience in applying geophysical methods to real-world geological and subsurface investigation problems. Students develop practical skills in survey planning, field data acquisition, data quality control, processing, interpretation, and integration of geophysical and geological information.
Course Content
The course covers field survey planning and design, instrument preparation and operation, geophysical data acquisition, field quality control, positioning and surveying techniques, and field data management. Students apply various geophysical methods to investigate subsurface conditions, including gravity, magnetic, electrical resistivity, electromagnetic, and seismic methods, depending on the field objectives. The course emphasizes field-based problem solving, data processing and interpretation, integration of geophysical and geological information, subsurface modeling, and preparation of technical reports and presentations based on field observations and analytical results.
