TG2208
Teori Potensial
This course introduces the fundamental concepts of potential theory and their applications in geophysics. It provides a theoretical foundation for understanding potential fields generated by subsurface sources and their relationships to physical properties of the Earth, particularly in gravity and magnetic methods.
Course Content
The course covers the fundamental concepts of scalar and vector fields, potential functions, gradient, divergence, and Laplacian operators, as well as the governing equations of potential fields. Topics include Poisson’s and Laplace’s equations, boundary conditions, Green’s functions, uniqueness theorems, and solutions for simple source geometries. The course also discusses gravitational and magnetic potentials, multipole expansions, equivalent sources, upward and downward continuation, potential-field transformations, and the mathematical foundations of gravity and magnetic anomaly interpretation. Applications to subsurface modeling, forward calculation, and geophysical data interpretation are also introduced.
